Egypt to participate in the BRICS Summit
A meeting was held in Moscow between Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and Nazih El Naggary, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Russia.
The discussion focused on the development of bilateral relations in the trade and economic sectors, as well as the participation of Egyptian representatives in major business events in Russia, including the key event of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship, the BRICS Summit, scheduled to be held in Kazan on 22–24 October 2024.
“Cooperation with Egypt is gaining significant momentum, opening up broad opportunities for enhancing business collaboration between our countries. We see great potential for joint projects in the fields of energy, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure. I believe that promising new opportunities for expanding our fruitful partnership also exist within the framework of cooperation under the BRICS association, which Egypt joined during Russia’s chairmanship year,” emphasized Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee for Russia’s BRICS chairmanship in 2024.
The parties emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries by leveraging opportunities to promote Egypt’s investment potential at key business and sectoral events in Russia, organized by the Roscongress Foundation. Specifically, they discussed the participation of an Egyptian delegation in the business programme of the Russian Energy Week Forum, scheduled for 26–28 September 2024, in Moscow.
“Since 2022, Egypt has participated annually in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, and we are convinced that this event is an important platform for strengthening our economic ties with Russia. The participation of a delegation of Egyptian entrepreneurs not only boosts trade and investment relations but also creates conditions for the development of integration and cultural exchange between our countries at various levels,” noted Nazih El Naggary, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Russia.
Given the significant increase in tourist flows between the countries, one of the topics discussed was Egypt’s full-scale participation in the Let’s Travel! Russian Tourism Forum, including the organization of an exhibition stand. This approach would not only present Egypt as a promising travel destination but also showcase investment projects in the tourism sector and host its own event within the Forum.
