Vietnam to Participate in BRICS Summit through BRICS Plus/Outreach

Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov met in Moscow with Ambassador of Vietnam to Russia Dang Minh Khoi.

The two discussed Vietnamese participation in the BRICS Summit scheduled for 22–24 October in Kazan, as well as the development of a far-reaching strategic partnership between the countries.

“When Russia and Vietnam have worked together, it has tended to be because their views have aligned on important global issues like the rule of international law, sovereignty, non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, the coordination of important multilateral platforms, including the UN, or within the Russia–ASEAN dialogue partnership and the East Asia Summit,” Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee for Russia’s Chairship of BRICS in 2024 Anton Kobyakov said.

They also drew attention to the significance of having Vietnamese leaders participate in the BRICS Summit in Kazan and a delegation attend business events organized by the Roscongress Foundation to drive Russian-Vietnamese dialogue forward.

“Vietnam would like to continue to work, and benefit from its work, with Russia on trade, the economy, oil and gas, energy, and education. The agreements reached during President Vladimir Putin’s June visit to Vietnam hold great potential and will further strengthen far-reaching strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Russia,” Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi said.

Russia and Vietnam will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year, lending particular significance to the continued development of bilateral ties. In response, a series of ‘World of Opportunities: Russia–Vietnam’ business forums, organized by the Roscongress Foundation, have been planned for 2025 as part of the programme of events in honor of the anniversary. The participants spoke of the importance of the events as an opportunity for Russian and Vietnamese companies to meet up as well as the atmosphere of understanding and respect for each other’s uniqueness the cultural agenda will create.

Finally, the parties spoke of the significance of Vietnamese participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the ‘Let’s Travel!’ International Tourism Forum in 2025. The events are expected create important opportunities for both sides to attract investment in promising joint projects.
